Introducing Maker-Checker: Enhancing Decision Making on Scalefusion

In a world where human and technological imperfections coexist, having an extra pair of eyes never hurts, especially when dealing with large device inventories. Despite technological advancements, human errors remain a reality, more so in critical decision-making processes.

Unintentional errors or deliberate delinquency in the enterprise world can cause nothing less than an upheaval. In acknowledging this vulnerability, the concept of dual approval, or “maker-checker,” has thrived across industries, such as banking, for decades.

Today, we’re excited to unveil Maker-Checker, an essential feature on the Scalefusion dashboard.

Designed to enhance decision-making processes in enterprise mobility management (EMM), Maker-Checker adds validation to every action performed, ensuring meticulous scrutiny and approval before implementation. Stemming from the critical need for accuracy and accountability.

Implement Multi admin Approval with Maker Checker

    How Maker-Checker Works

At its core, Maker-Checker operates on a simple yet powerful principle: an entrant initiates an action while an administrator approves it. This tandem approach ensures every decision made on the Scalefusion dashboard undergoes thorough review, safeguarding against errors and promoting confidence in execution.

Currently, Maker-Checker on Scalefusion supports 11 critical actions. Upon initiation, these actions are subjected to the scrutiny of a designated checker whose approval signifies execution. Some actions may warrant partial approval, while others may be rejected outright, preventing undesired changes.

    Enabling and Configuring Maker-Checker

Account owners have the autonomy to enable the Maker-Checker flag, empowering them to regulate decision-making processes effectively. Once activated, roles within the dashboard can be assigned as approvers/checkers, delineating responsibilities and ensuring seamless workflow management.

A flag needs to be enabled on the dashboard to configure Maker-Checker. Roles can be tailored to be either dedicated approvers/checkers or encompass broader administrative capabilities, aligning with organizational requirements and hierarchies.

    Streamlined Verification Process

Upon activation, actions subject to Maker-Checker undergo a two-step verification process. Entrants observe the status of their actions while approvers review pending requests, maintaining the integrity of decision-making processes. Account owners and co-owners are pivotal in approving critical changes and preserving accountability and oversight.

    New Roles within the Dashboard

With Maker-Checker, we introduce new roles tailored to enhance operational efficiency:

    • Device Admin
    • Device Admin + Task Approver
    • Task Approver

    Actions Supported by Maker-Checker

The following actions are subjected to two-step Maker-Checker verification:

    • Delete Devices
    • Factory Reset
    • Unlock Devices
    • Move selected Devices to Group
    • Remove Devices from Profile
    • Add Devices to Profile
    • Remove Devices from Group
    • Delete Group
    • Application Publish
    • Application Delete
    • IMEI/Serial# Records

    Enhanced Visibility with Maker-Checker

    For administrators, Maker-Checker offers:

    • Visibility into actions requiring approval
    • Option to add notes for approvers
    • A detailed summary of pending actions

    For approvers, Maker-Checker provides:

    • Overview of pending actions
    • Contextual information and reasons for action
    • Impact assessment on the number of devices
    • Capability to reject actions with accompanying notes
    • Account-level Insights

At the account level, organizations can access a comprehensive action log summarizing recent activities. Notably, actions pending approval or rejection possess a validity period of 10 days, after which they are automatically canceled unless completed.
