Introducing Remote Terminal for macOS: Secure remote management with Scalefusion

Mac fleets are growing in the enterprise. With them, so are the demands on IT teams to troubleshoot faster, manage securely, and scale support, without jumping through hoops.  Traditional troubleshooting often involves time-consuming steps, physical device handovers, lengthy support calls, or relying on end-users to follow instructions. These delays affect productivity and increase IT overhead.

    Remote terminal for macOS

While remote access has always been part of the toolkit, screen-sharing isn’t always the right answer. For power admins, terminal access is faster, more precise, and doesn’t interrupt the user experience.

Today, we’re bringing that capability natively into Scalefusion. We’re excited to announce that Scalefusion now supports Remote Terminal for macOS devices, extending the same secure, command-line remote access experience that we previously introduced for Linux devices—right from the Scalefusion dashboard.

Remote Terminal for macOS: Command-Line control from anywhere

The new version of Remote Support enables IT admins to access a real-time terminal session on managed macOS devices securely. This is a perfect tool for power admins who prefer command-line access for maintenance and support activities, without relying on remote view or screen-sharing controls.

It offers both convenience and security, with encrypted sessions, controlled access, and passwordless sudo, allowing admins to perform privileged actions without managing separate admin passwords.

When the latest Scalefusion agent and Remote Support app (which powers Remote Terminal) are installed on a Mac, it will show up in the Remote Cast & Control section of the dashboard, letting admins start secure terminal sessions right away.

This capability allows IT teams to:

    • Command-line control, remotely. Execute commands and scripts directly in the device’s shell.
    • Execute commands with elevated privileges without entering a password, streamlining remote management, with passwordless sudo access.
    • Resolve issues without waiting on users or relying on remote view.
    • Manage fleets of Macs efficiently without additional agents or tools.

    Why this matters for enterprises

    • Efficient troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues instantly without physical access, reducing downtime and improving end-user experience.
    • Secure, authorized access: Encrypted sessions combined with passwordless sudo ensure that only trusted admins can perform privileged operations safely and efficiently.
    • Optimized for power admins: Ideal for those who prefer direct terminal access over GUI-based remote control for speed and efficiency.
    • Scalable device management: Manage large fleets of macOS devices remotely from a single dashboard.

    Start streamlining macOS device support

With this release, Remote Terminal brings secure, real-time command-line access directly into Scalefusion, eliminating the need for external tools or workarounds. It’s another step toward unified, platform-native device management that reduces IT overhead and strengthens control.

We’re committed to bridging the gap between ITOps and SecOps across every operating system. Remote Terminal for macOS follows our Linux support and lays the groundwork for broader, cross-platform capabilities designed for modern enterprise environments.
